Emergency Medical Technician: EMT Initial Course
This course is designed to instruct a student in both knowledge and practical skills of the EMT, who serves as a vital link in the chain of the health care team. It is recognized that the majority of pre-hospital emergency medical care will be provided by the EMT. This course includes all skills necessary for the individual to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service or other specialized service. A one day class of CPR has been incorporated into each EMT course for the student.

This is a very rigorous program that consists of classroom instruction, online computer time, online quizzes, practical skills, evaluations, and homework assignments. The student must also complete 25 hours of hospital clinical time in areas including Triage, Emergency Room, Respiratory Therapy, Cardiac Care, and patients with Special Population needs. In order to successfully complete this course and qualify to take the NJ State Certifying Examination, the student must obtain a minimum grade of 70% on all tests. All absences must be made-up prior to taking the state exam. NOTE: There will be NO onsite registration.

Emergency Medical Technician: EMT Refresher/Transition Course
This course is designed to represent basic core refresher knowledge and retrain what skills are required for the EMT to recertify in NJ. The course offers the complete 24 continuing education units (CEUs) towards the EMT recertification curriculum. EMTs whose licenses have expired within the last two (2) years can use this course to recertify as an EMT. However, upon successful completion, the candidate must retake the NJ State EMT examination.

This program is conducted in three (3) 8-hour consecutive days, (such as Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The class will include classroom instruction and practical skills. In order to successfully complete this course, the student must attend all sessions, plus obtain a minimum score of 70% on the final evaluation, and successfully pass the skill stations.

There is a minimum of 10 students needed to run both the EMT Initial & Refresher class with a maximum of 30 students. Students must fill out the registration forms 10 days prior to the start of either class. NOTE: There will be NO onsite registration.
