TMS Therapy 866-600-7660

An alternative, innovative depression treatment with no medication or side effects.

The Trinitas-St. Joseph's Behavioral Health Network, in partnership with HPR Treatment Centers (a division of TMS Centers of America), is offering Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment to individuals with depression. TMS services will be provided through six office locations that will open throughout Northern NJ over the next year.

What is TMS?

TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a depression treatment that uses a targeted magnetic field to stimulate areas of the brain that control mood and are thought to be underactive in people with depression. TMS has also been effective in treating patients with anxiety, OCD and other similar behavioral health challenges. It is :

  • Safe & Effective: FDA cleared since 2008, more than 2 million treatments have been performed to over 65,000 patients.
  • Medication Free: TMS can be safely used with or without antidepressant medication.
  • Non-Invasive: TMS is a non-invasive procedure. You are awake and alert for the treatments and can engage in normal activities immediately after treatment.
  • Free From Side Effects of Medications: TMS has none of the side effects often felt with medications. The most common side effect is discomfort around the treatment area, which usually goes away within a week.

What is the Treatment Process?

TMS Therapy is an in-office treatment that takes 18 minutes, is performed while the patient sits in a chair, and is administered five days a week, for up to four to six weeks. There are four steps to treatment:

  • Step One: The patient sits comfortably in the treatment chair, awake and alert.
  • Step Two: The magnetic coil rests lightly on the patient's head.
  • Step Three: The TMS device delivers focused magnetic stimulation directly to the target areas of the brain.
  • Step Four: The patient can immediately resume normal activities.

TMS therapy is covered by most insurance.
